Social Media: Merging Hard News with “Sentiment”

The author found out that news on social media sites should never be treated like news written in newspapers or for television. The point of using social media timelines as opposed to reading an article or watching a newscast is to save the viewer time. The updates on social media sites for major news networks are to just give you the most important information at a glance so that the reader does not have to read the full story.

This helps out my campaign because social media sites allow me to inform my audience that the Dine N’ Shine dinner is coming up and that way they wouldn’t have to read a lengthy update about it unless they searched for more. Also, when I tweet video updates and their link, the description allows them to see what the video is about and whether or not the information in the video would interest them.
